RULES AND EVENT DESCRIPTIONS
GENERAL RULES
All events will be governed by USGA Rules of Golf, supplemented by the official WNML Local Rules outlined below.
WNML LOCAL RULES
GIMME TAPE: A 24-inch tape is affixed to the flagstick. If your ball is fully within the marked area, the putt is considered holed. Add one stroke and pick up your ball. This promotes pace of play.
MAXIMUM SCORE: The maximum allowable score on any hole is 9. Once you are putting for 8 and miss, pick up and move on.
Hole 13 Green (Expanded Area)
The green on Hole 13 has been expanded. The newly expanded section is currently roped off and marked as Ground Under Repair (GUR).
However, per Team Scott and the course maintenance crew’s request, no play is allowed from this roped-off area, regardless of the standard GUR options.
Mandatory Relief Procedures:
If your ball comes to rest inside the roped-off area, you must move your ball and play your next shot from the designated drop zone (marked by a painted circle).
If your ball is outside the roped area but the roped-off GUR interferes with your direct line to the hole, you may also drop in the drop zone.
Note: This rule may occasionally result in a favorable outcome for a poor shot, but applying it consistently ensures fairness for the entire field.
New Turf Areas (Temporary Abnormal Condition)
Several bunkers have been eliminated or relocated, resulting in multiple areas of newly sodded turf.
Play from the new turf will begin immediately.
Temporary Relief for May:
If your ball comes to rest in a noticeable seam within the newly sodded turf, you may treat it as Ground Under Repair (GUR) and take free relief under standard GUR rules.
Bunkers (temporary local rule until further notice)
With the newly rebuilt bunkers with new drainage, the sand has not been maintained as of yet. Until the maintenance staff is fully staffed for the season, we will play all bunkers with as an option to “Lift, Clean, Rake, & Place” policy.
This is only a temporary local rule until further notice.
HANDICAPS
Handicaps are managed using the World Handicap System (WHS), updated daily.
Players will use 90% of their WHS index.
WNML utilizes Golf Genius to manage league play, handicaps, and scoring.
Golf Genius will post all league scores to your WHS profile.
Players without an established WHS handicap will play as a 0 until one is established.
If a hole is not played or a score is not recorded, the system will enter a max score of 9 for handicap calculation.
ELECTRONIC SCORING (Golf Genius)
Mobile live scoring via the Golf Genius app is required. The app is available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.
Players will receive a weekly GGID code to access the scoring portal.
Scores are considered final once you leave the property. Players should verify scores before leaving.
Scorekeepers must finalize scores in the app. If app scoring is not possible during play, a paper scorecard may be used and entered after the round.
GHIN SCORE POSTING
Your league scores will be automatically posted to your GHIN account by Golf Genius! No extra steps needed — just play, score, and you’re all set!
DIVISIONS
Open Division: White tees.
Flights added for every 25 players.
Senior Division: Gold tees.
Must be age 55+ AND Age + Handicap Index ≥ 70
Flights added for every 20 players.
Weather Policy
The Wednesday Night Men’s League is a rain-or-shine league — we play in less-than-perfect conditions! Here’s how we handle Mother Nature’s curveballs:
Light Rain? Game On
If it’s a light, on-and-off drizzle, plan to play. Scattered showers with no lightning or severe weather? We’re teeing it up!
Automatic Cancellations - League play will be canceled if:
Dangerous weather is present (lightning, high winds, or torrential rain)
The course closes carts for the evening
If either of those happens, league is OFF for the night.
The 2PM Decision - We’ll make a call by 2:00 PM based on:
A 50% or greater forecast for lightning, strong winds, or heavy rain → CANCELLED
Less than 50% → We’re playing (unless weather changes dramatically)
The golf shop will keep monitoring radar and conditions and may suspend play if necessary.
If league is canceled before play starts, we will send an email and text message to communicate. In addition, you can also call the golf shop for confirmation.
Always plan on playing. We almost never make this call unless…
What If the Night Gets Washed Out?
If weather wipes out the entire night, a Rain Check Player List will be available in the golf shop. You’ll be able to use your rain check anytime during the 2025 season.
If the round is delayed due to weather, we’ll do our best to wait it out — as long as daylight allows. If not all groups can finish in a 2-hour 15-minute pace window, the night will not count as official.
Prize Fund Adjustments Due to Cancellations:
ALL PRIZE fund monies will be put into the League Championship!
LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP WEATHER POLICY
Any division that finishes its round will be considered official.
Divisions that don’t finish will restart the round the following week.
If only partial rounds are completed across three weeks, completed holes across the division will count as the official result.
